Bachelor of Fine Arts in Classical Chinese Dance

Graduation Requirements

The graduation requirement for the BFA in Classical Chinese Dance is a minimum of 129 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The 129 credits include 70 credits of core courses in classical Chinese dance, 20 credits of courses in the area of concentration, 9 credits of dance or dance-related electives, and 33 credits of general education courses.

Emphasis Requirements

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Classical Chinese Dance program has three emphases/concentrations:

  • Performance and Choreography
  • Dance Pedagogy
  • Dance Production

Students choose one of these three emphases at the end of their sophomore year.

Master Bof Music in Performance

Graduation Requirements

The graduation requirement for the BM in Performance is a minimum of 137 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The 137 credits include 92 credits of core courses, 8 credits of major-related electives, and 37 credits of liberal arts and sciences courses. When a student majoring in a Chinese instrument chooses the keyboard as his or her minor instrument and, thereby, has only 88 credits of core courses, he or she is required to take a total of 12 credits of electives

Master of Fine Arts in Classical Chinese Dance

Graduation Requirements

Graduation requirements for the MFA in Classical Chinese Dance include:

  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 60 credits of graduate level courses set by the Department of Dance, as further explained below.
  • Successful completion of a Master’s project.
  • Meeting the residency requirement, which is normally at least one year of full-time study. The residency requirement can be adjusted with special permission.
  • Completion of all program requirements within five (5) years from the date of first enrollment. Typically, it takes two years to complete the program of study. Any extension beyond five years requires pre-approval by the Graduate Chair of the department.

Master of Music in Performance

Graduation requirements

Graduation requirements common to all three specializations in the MusM in Performance include:

  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 45-48 credits of graduate level courses set by the Department of Music.
  • Satisfactory completion of the two jury performances (MUS 550R Jury, 0cr, twice).
  • Successful completion of Graduation Recital: MUS 650 Graduation Recital (0cr).
  • Residency: Meeting the residency requirement, which is normally at least one year of full-time study. The residency requirement can be adjusted with special permission.
  • Complete all program requirements within five (5) years from the first enrollment date. Typically, it takes two years to complete the program of study.
