Dr. Liu is a professor of applied piano, music theory, and music history, as well as an accomplished piano and guzheng (Chinese zither) performer. She is also a talented composer: many of her works have been featured worldwide in the performances of Shen Yun Performing Arts. She holds a D.M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.M. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She taught and performed piano in Texas for many years with her students receiving many high honors and awards in competitions. Professor Liu herself was a recipient of a NISOD Teaching and Leadership Excellence Award in recognition of her outstanding pedagogical achievements. She is also an active adjudicator for various piano competitions and was invited to arrange the commissioned piece for the 2016 NTDTV International Piano Competition. Dr. Liu has been a member of the music faculty at Fei Tian College since 2016, teaching both theoretical and applied music.
