James Geiger

James Geiger is a graduate of the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where he earned a B.M. in trumpet performance. While there he studied with Alan Siebert (Dayton Philharmonic) and Philip Collins (Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra). During the summers he attended Eastern Music Festival studying with Mark Niehaus (Milwaukee Symphony), the Opera, Theater and Music Festival of Lucca, Italy studying with Marie Speziale (Rice University), and the Chautauqua Music Festival studying with Chuck Berginc (Phoenix Symphony). He earned his M.M. in Trumpet performance from the University of South Carolina School of Music where he studied with James Ackley. After earning his Master’s, he was offered the position of Graduate Assistant at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) where he studied with Judith Saxton and completed the one year Professional Artist Certificate program, for which he received the Gradate Achievement Award for Excellence in Performance. He has performed with the Charleston Symphony (SC) and Salisbury Symphony (NC). He joined Shen Yun Performing Arts in 2013 and has been on the faculty of Fei Tian College since 2018 where he teaches music theory and Western music history.
